Happy Belated New Years, everyone!
Author�s note: This was half-written in West Virginia, then finished the next day when I came home
Mine was...is...spectacular. I am still living it at Ashley's house in West Virginia.
On Monday, I decided to quit work, as they had me scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. And after a night of NO sleep and a three hour drive ahead of me, I decided to just not show up. My mom was surprisingly supportive of my decision.
Around 5:30, I left for West Virginia, which was a hella long drive. And, when I finally got to Huntington, I got lost for awhile and drove through the countryside for like, 30 minutes. However, I finally found my way to my destination...
I met up with Ash at a hotel for pre-gaming. I knew absolutely no one there except for her, which was awkward at first, but still fun. After that, we headed to a bar called Fat Patty's to get our New Year's festivities started!
The first hour or so was awkward, as I was not even close to drunk and everyone there knew eachother from high school and college and what not. However, as soon as the alcohol started flowing, I loosened up and began mingling.
I stayed close to Ash the whole night, but did manage to meet some booooys. The first one was some guy in the military who ended up creeping me and a lot of other girls out. Unfortunately he was my New Year's kiss. :( But he did buy me lots of drinks, including a flaming Dr. Pepper which is an alcoholic drink that tastes just like one of its ingredients--Dr. Pepper!
That boy--I don't even remmber his name--followed me around the whole night, but did keep my cup filled. We hit the dancefloor for awhile, which was fun, but that one boy kept monopolizing me. I managed to break free from him to meet some other people, all of which I think were really nice.
We watched the ball drop on the tv in the bar. Everyone shouted out the countdown and many people kissed. Like I said, I initially kised that one guy, but shared quite a few other after-midnight kisses with random people. I remember telling someone in the bathroom that 2007 had been a crappy year and I hoped 2008 was better. I do hope that.
Later in the night, I flirted/talked to this one guy, who was really cute and had gauges. His ex-girlfriend kept shooting me evil looks, but I kept flirting with him. He told me to find him later, once he was out of sight of his girlfriend. I did...drunk, obviously, and we flirted some more and exchanged numbers. It was sweet because I saw his ex and she was totally pretty. I told him that she was much prettier than me and he was just shook his head like, noooo. What is funny is that I told her that! I sat her down and told her that she was prettier than me and such a nice girl. She apologized for shooting me evil looks and said that I was a nice person and she was crazy, but I was like, I'm crazy, too! So in a weird way, I made friends with the girl whose boyfriend I was lusting after! It was funny. She was really nice, though...and I can always relate to a crazy chick. She must have good taste in men, too, because her ex was flipppping HOT.
I'm trying to think of any other random tidbits from the night. I encountered quite a few characters on the drive. I had to stop at this crazy small gas station to ask for directions from these total country townies, who were super nice. And then I had to stop and ask for directions at this liquor drive thru, where this woman needed $1.03 to buy booze, which I gave to her. She hugged me and wished me a happy New Years and had no teeth. Weird, but nice I think. At the bar this one guy told me I was beautiful, which was a nice memory of New Year's considering I think I looked like shit. A three hour drive does not do makeup/hair good! And, on top of that, my bangs were doing this weird seperating thing they do sometimes which really annoys me and only gets worse as I sweat.
We went back to Ash's friend Kelly's apartment to go to sleep. We woke up around 12:30 p.m. the next day and spent the next five or so hours just goofing around. It was me, Ash, Kelly, Kelly's boyfriend, and their friend, Tyler. I looked like SHIT, though. No shower+smelling like a bar does not equal a pretty kitty. But like I said, it was really fun. We watched viral videos online for awhile, including lots o' porn. That was fun. A good way to get to know people. As I left, Kelly's boyfriend and Tyler were like, "Come back soon to party with us in WV!" That was nice.
Then Ash and I went to her family's house where I spent the night with her and her sister. It was super fun. I love her sister, too! Her whole family is super nice. They have a clean house and play games and what not. We played Scene It (I won!) then watched movies all night. I looked and felt bad, tho, and I got on her sister's comp to check my e-mail and got preoccuied with Post stuff. But then we fell asleep.
I don't think I mentioned any of this before, but I didn't actually tell my parents where I was going. I told them I was going back to Dayton, which is only an hour away, when really I drove three hours to WV. I had to lie to my parents, but I think they either caught on or were just peeved because I was being sketchy about when I was getting back and whatnot. And then my phone died and I had to call my dad for my mom�s number and he got pissed, asking where I was. I just hung up on him. Ash and her sis took me to Target to get a car charger (and cute clothes!) after we ate lunch at Cici�s (macaroni pizza!) and got coffee at Starbucks. Then I was on my merry way home, only to encounter crappy weather and even crappier parents.
My dad called but when I answered, he hung up. I discovered he left a pretty hostile message on my voicemail. I called my mom and of course she was pissy, but I laid down the law. I said that if she was going to act that way, I wasn�t going to come home. She said she wasn�t mad, but of course, she has been ignoring me all night.
Which leads me to part two of what has been happening recently�
