Ron Jeremy can do more than just give himself blow-jobs!
Em and I saw him, the infamous porn star, in a debate tonight. Our school is hosting this debate series on controversial topics such as marijuana, pornography and illegal downloading and it is bringing in some pretty well-known people. The debate tonight was obviously the one on pornography and it featured Ron Jeremy and Greg Gross, a minister as well as the founder of this Web site devoted to alternatives to porn.
It was very stimulating (no pun intended). While I found myself agreeing with a lot of Gross's opinions, I am overwhelmingly drawn to Ron Jeremy's side of the argument: pornography is healthy and A-okay!
While the debate itself was interesting, I found myself more interested by the Q&A portion of the event. It seemed to be three kinds of people; supporters like myself, religious fanatics and feminists.
I have no problems with the latter of the options. If you choose to not like pornography for whatever reason, that is your choice. However, the people who asked questions AGAINST pornography tended to be so hypocritical! It really made me angry. To be against something is one thing, but to want everyone else against it is another thing completely!
So, like I said, it was very entertaining and enlightening. Unfortunately Ron Jeremy did not demonstrate the act which he is famous for, obviously, but it was intellectually stimulating rather than the other way around, for once.
